Start with the job
“Help with marketing” leaves the output almost entirely to chance. “Draft three homepage headlines for a bookkeeping tool used by freelance designers” supplies a concrete task, audience, and format. Describe the result you need before adding a role.
Give context that changes the answer
Include who will use the result, the source material, and constraints such as length or budget. Remove sensitive details that are unnecessary. A useful input is not necessarily a long input: include the facts that would change the recommendation.
Make quality observable
Ask for a format you can check. For a comparison, request criteria, evidence, trade-offs, and unknowns. For code, specify existing conventions and meaningful verification. Avoid asking the model to be “perfect”; describe what a good result contains.
Improve one thing at a time
Read the output against your task. If it is vague, add a concrete example. If it invents facts, restrict it to supplied sources and require uncertainty labels. Change one part of the prompt, rerun the same input, and compare.
Try it
Open any prompt in the library, fill in the context and material fields, then copy it to your AI tool. Our original templates are starting points, not guarantees. Keep the draft that best fits your real task.
